Mysuru: Vandals have painted ugly graffiti causing an as-yet-unknown amount of damage to pieces of the city’s property. The walls of mini garden developed on the stretch to Nandi Statue near the View Point have been vandalised. Registration numbers of Malappuram (KL 10, KL 14) in Kerala has been written on the walls indicating that it is a handiwork of some tourists from outside Karnataka who wanted to announce their arrival in an ugly way.
While the Namma Mysuru Foundation is trying its best to promote cleanliness and aesthetics, it is unfortunate that tourists who come to the Chamundi Hill just for a couple of hours are leaving their ugly marks behind.
The defacement has drawn the ire of public and has come under fire from social media users. A large number of people have expressed their anger over the disfigurement of the public property. They have urged the authorities concerned, including the Police, to increase patrolling of the Chamundi Hill area and penalise miscreants and vandals.
Meanwhile, many socially aware residents, observing that the many messages scribbled at these locations refer to Kerala, have tagged Kerala Chief Minister on Twitter and Facebook, urging him to educate tourists from his State.
