Unhygienic fast food outlets asked to shut down

Mysuru/Mysore: As a preventive measure to stop the spread of Coronavirus and Avian Influenza (Bird Flu), the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has ordered shut down of all unhygienic fast food outlets in the city with immediate effect. However, fast food outlets that have prioritised hygiene, have been exempted from the order.

Following the order, MCC officials and members of the MCC standing Committee on Health inspected street fast food vendors, Tea shops and other petty shops selling food items and checked for maintenance of cleanliness and hygiene, following which those falling short of standards were ordered to shut down immediately and not to re-open until further orders.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, MCC Health officer Dr. D.G. Nagaraju said that fast food outlets that follow cleanliness parameters are not being asked to shut down. However those food outlets which do not maintain cleanliness in their vicinity are asked to shut down immediately, taking into consideration the health and safety of the public, following the Coronavirus and Bird Flu scare.

Highlighting the importance of maintaining cleanliness,  Dr. Nagaraju said that the MCC Health Committee will act sternly against outlets that do not follow the MCC guidelines.
