Mysuru: Pankaj Yadav, Joint Secretary of the Union Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), recently visited RUDSET Institute in Mysuru and participated as a chief guest at the valedictory of the 6-day Financial Literacy training programme for Community Resource Persons. He distributed certificates and tool kits to the trainees on the occasion.
Speaking at the valedictory, Pankaj Yadav said that this was a special programme of NRLM (National Rural Livelihood Mission).
Pointing out that financial literacy is important for every one in this era of digital transactions, he said that a thorough understanding of digital payment systems is vital for financial literacy.
“People are falling victims to online frauds and cybercrimes, which is alarming. It is our responsibility to alert, educate and caution the gullible people against online frauds and fraudulent transactions. The Union Government has come up with several programmes in this regard. These programmes help people right from the top level to the lowest level on the importance of understanding financial literacy,” he said and called upon the participants to become useful resource persons for empowering the people through financial literacy.
ZP Chief Planning Officer K.B. Prabhuswamy, Bengaluru’s RST Institutions National Director Murugeshan, RUDSETI National Controller ( Evaluation) R.R. Singh, NRLM District Programme Manager A.R. Asha, District Manager Basavaraj, RUDSETI, Mysuru Director K.S. Saritha and others were present.
