Mysore/Mysuru: Over 15 students of Yuvaraja’s College have written to the authorities of University of Mysore (UoM), complaining against the menace of private sports coaches at the grounds falling under the jurisdiction of Physical Education Department of the Varsity, coming in the way of conducting sports activities of the constituent colleges.
In a letter submitted to UoM Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Director of Physical Education Department and Syndicate Members, the students have explained about how the private coaches are turning a hurdle in hosting regular sports activities of Yuvaraja’s and Maharaja’s Colleges and Post-Graduate students.
The private coaches are training students of private schools and colleges daily from 6 am to 9 am and 4 pm to 6.30 pm, by charging fees. It is a clear violation of law for private coaches to provide training at the cost of UoM PE Department faculty. But the private coaches are making merry, by providing training in Basketball, Gymnastics, Athletics and Tennis, the students alleged.
If any student question private coaches in this regard, they are abused and assaulted, besides filing a Police complaint against them, by levelling false charges. A written complaint has been already submitted to the Director of UoM PE Department, but no action has been taken. Hence, action should be taken after taking a serious view of the complaint, urged students of Yuvaraja’s College Rajashekar, Chandan Patel and Karthik Nayak among others.
