Parking woes on D. Devaraj Urs Road is well-known and is one of the longest unresolved issues of the city. One time or the other, every Mysurean has faced this problem of not finding a space to park in this city-centric business avenue.
It is also well-known that the parking problems are mainly because around 60% of the parking space is used by the shop owners and staff for the entire day. What bothers is that even these shop owners are not mindful of the fact that this is leading to loss to their own business!
Moreover, I fail to understand the inability of the District Administration to even to put in place ‘pay and park’ system at least in this busy road which would have definitely reduced the problem to a considerable extent. What is stopping the administration to implement this system?
We find it really frustrating whenever we are on Devaraj Urs Road, strolling from start to end, making rounds to see if we could get any space to park and what irritates more is that Traffic Police coming from behind and not even allowing the vehicles to stop for a few minutes. Hoping for a solution soon.
