Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. M. Mahesh, an alumnus of the Department of Studies in Physics, University of Mysore (UoM), has been elected as President-Elect of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM). He will serve a three-year term as President-Elect in 2024, President in 2025 and Chairman of the Board in 2026.
Dr. Mahadevappa Mahesh is a Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Chair of the Radiation Control Committee for Johns Hopkins Health System. He will assume the role as President-Elect 30 years after joining Johns Hopkins following receipt of his Doctoral of Science from the Medical College of Wisconsin (Milwaukee, WI).
“I am very happy to have this opportunity to lead this (AAPM) organisation at a time when the field is expanding. I have been very fortunate to spend time working within AAPM in other roles, including as a Board Member, Newsletter Editor and as Treasurer,” he said.
Dr. Mahesh is currently the Chair of the American College of Radiology (ACR) Commission on Medical Physics and a Member of the Board of Chancellors (BOC). He has authored or co-authored more than 140 peer-reviewed research articles, presented at numerous conferences both nationally and internationally.
