Mysuru: About 100 women Pourakarmikas of University of Mysore (UoM) under the aegis of Karnataka State Combined Universities Pourakarmikas Association who began their night-long indefinite strike near the Kuvempu Statue at the main entrance of the University on Bogadi Road yesterday morning opposing the anti-labour policy of the University, continued their strike this morning too.
The protestors had cooked food at the protest spot and slept there last night before resuming their protest today morning.
Alleging that they were working since14 years on a daily wage basis through an outsourced agency, they complained that they were deprived of basic social security benefits like PF and ESI.
They further alleged that the University had initiated a tender process to invite a new contractor and feared that the move could throw them out of job.
The protestors sought wages on par with Grade-D employers.
Association State Committee President Chandshekar Meti, Secretary Usha Rani and others took part in the protest.
