Mysuru: “Prasaranga of University of Mysore (UoM) intends to publish thesis presented by research students for Ph.D in the form of books,” disclosed Prasaranga Director Dr. M.G. Manjunath.
He was speaking at a function held at BM Sri auditorium in Manasagangotri here recently for the release of 40 books brought out by Prasaranga.
Dr. Manjunath contended that research students were submitting thesis on topics with invaluable importance and scope which when brought out in book form would be very helpful for needy students. He said that the Vice-Chancellor has assured to extend co-operation in that context. He recalled that the University of Mysore had brought out the thesis in book form long back covering about 100 thesis.
Continuing, Dr. Manjunath disclosed that over the last four months Prasaranga had published 20 books and totally 3,000 books to provide encouragement to new writers and scholars. He said that a special volume of ‘Prabuddha Karnataka’ would be released soon.
He further said that books worth Rs. 50 lakh was being sold by Prasaranga per year at a rebate of 50%. He added that Prasaranga would soon get the recognition of International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) and International Standard Book Number (ISBN).
Speaking on the occasion, Retired Professor T.V. Venkatachala Shastri recalled the valuable contribution of N.S. Subba Rao, B.M. Srikantaiah, G. Hanumantha Rao and Kuvempu to UoM and Prasaranga which served as a strong foundation for further development.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar presided. Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies Director Dr. N.M. Talwar, Prasaranga Assistant Director Dr.B.S. Anil Kumar and others were present.
