Mysore/Mysuru: In a befitting tribute to legendary playback singer S.P. Balasubramanyam (SPB), the Syndicate of University of Mysore has given its nod to set up the Music Chair in the Varsity in the name of late singer.
This was decided at the Syndicate meeting held here on Wednesday. The proposed Chair would be established in the University’s Fine Arts College with an aim of overall development in the field of music.
Annually, Rs.5 lakh will be reserved for this Chair which is being set up following a proposal submitted by noted Kannada Music Director Hamsalekha. Based on his request, the Syndicate gave its permission to set up the Chair in the name of late SPB.
As part of activities, special lectures, workshops, demonstrations and publication of books will be done.
