UPOR and PID Numbers: Will MCC clarify?

Sir

This refers to the recent letter titled “City Corporation moves with online property tax collection system” by giving PID number (Property Identification Number) to owners.

A property survey was conducted several years ago under Urban Property Ownership Records (UPOR) in Karnataka —- Computerised Land Registration System for Urban Properties —— and a UPOR number (PID No.) was issued. I already have the PID issued in my name for my residential property.

Why is the same thing being repeated again after lakhs of rupees was spent by the Revenue Department on issuing UPOR? Will MCC clarify? It is such a sorry state that we keep wasting tax-payer’s money. But I am glad that at last the property tax is going online. Better late than never.

I hope this online property tax is made available throughout the State in all cities and towns.
