Sir,
I am writing to express my serious concern regarding the aggressive Rhesus monkey causing disturbances around the City Railway Station, as reported in SOM on Oct. 25. The lack of immediate action on this matter poses a threat to the safety and well-being of both residents and visitors.
Recently, my 11-year-old daughter was targeted by this monkey while playing tennis on a nearby court. The incident was traumatic, causing considerable distress. Fortunately, my daughter escaped unharmed, but the experience was unsettling.
This animal continues to be a danger beyond the Railway Station premises, endangering people in surrounding areas. It is concerning that the Forest Department and Railway authorities appear caught up in procedural delays, leaving the public vulnerable to further attacks.
I urge the authorities to prioritise public safety and take swift action to capture this monkey before any more harm is caused. Waiting for a serious incident to spur action is both irresponsible and avoidable. I hope this matter will be addressed with the urgency it truly warrants.
