Ursu Mahila Jagruti Sabha Trust presents awards to achievers

Mysuru:  ‘Maharani Lakshmammanni Devi is a role model when it comes to facing difficult situations in life,” opined Member of Mysore Royal Family Kamakshi Devi, sister of late scion Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar.

She was speaking after inaugurating the third anniversary celebrations of Ursu Mahila Jagruti Sabha Trust organised at Rotary auditorium on JLB road in city recently. She also inaugurated Prathibha Puraskar and Rajamathe Lakshmammanni Awards presentation ceremony.

“Tipu Sultan had imprisoned Maharani Lakshmammanni. Despite being in prison, she never felt distraught, but faced all the difficulties and saved her kingdom. Her exemplary courage is something which we should be passed on to our future generations. It is good that, the award is instituted in her name. Ursu Mahila Jagruti Sabha is helping poor women to lead life and it is also commendable that they are building a hostel for women. I wish their service to society continues,” said Kamakshi Devi.

Entrepreneur Indrammani Urs, musician S. Annapoornadevi, Dr. Vijayalakshmi Urs. Social worker Sunanda Buglair and artist Poornima Krishna Urs were presented with Lakshmammanni awards.

In addition, Pritam Urs, A. Bindu, Khushi P. Urs, Lavanya Urs, Punya Urs, Sinchana Urs, S. Akshata, Parineeta Urs and Tarun Urs were presented Prathibha Puraskar for scoring high marks in SSLC and PU exams.

Prof. Sathyaprakash Urs of J.T. Institute of Management and Studies, Rural Congress Committee President Dr. B.J. Vijayakumar, retired professor Dr. M. Susheela Urs and President of Chutuku Sahitya Parishat Dr. M.G.R. Urs were present.
