Novak Djokovic defeated Daniil Medvedev in straight sets to win the US Open and clinch a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam singles crown.
The Serbian superstar drew level with Margaret Court’s all-time record of 24 majors after an enthralling 3hr 17min duel with the Russian No.3 seed, winning 6-3, 7-6 (7/5) 6-3.
The victory was Djokovic’s third Grand Slam title of the season after wins at the Australian and French Opens, with the only blemish his defeat in the final of Wimbledon in July.
The victory also avenged Djokovic’s defeat to Medvedev in the 2021 US Open final, when the Russian wrecked his dream of a calendar year Grand Slam.
