Mysuru-based Dhruthi T. Venugopal taking part in the $25,000 ITF Women’s Tennis Tournament being held in Uzbekistan, won her first round women’s singles tie against Kazakhstan’s qualifier Ksenia Palkina 6-1, 6-2 yesterday.
Partnering Kyra Shroff, Dhruthi scored a good win over V. Shleya and T. Shakhsiya 6-2, 6-1 and entered the quarter-finals in the women’s doubles event.
Earlier in the qualifying round in the women’s singles, Dhruthi had scored a good Layso Bakhodirova (UZB) 6-1, 6-2. In the first round, Dhruthi scored a 6-1, 6-2 win over E. Ilina (UZB) 6-0, 6-0.
