Legendary singer Padma Shri Mohammed Rafi’s daughter and son-in-law to attend fund raising event
As part of a fund-raising programme of Rotary Ivory City Mysore, V.N. Prasad and Troupe will be presenting their next musical nite – Adaab Rafi-2 – a tribute to the legendary singer Padma Shri Mohammed Rafi at the Platinum Jubilee auditorium, JK Grounds on April 2 (Sunday) from 5.30 pm. Nasreen Ahmad and Meraj Ahmad, daughter and son-in-law of the legend Mohammed Rafi, who live in Mumbai, will be the guests of honour.
According to V. N. Prasad, Rafi breathed his last on the lap of Meraj Ahmad on July 31, 1980 at the age of 55. Even at 55, his voice was very strong.
Rafi’s style of singing was unique. His ability to modulate for different actors was exemplary. He not only varied his voice for different heroes but also for comedians – particularly for Mehmood and Jonny Lever. The club has adopted a village by name Marballi, where projects are planned in perpetuity covering health, education, sanitation, water supply etc. Funds raised in this programme will be devoted for such service projects.
