Mysuru: The appointment process for all the vacant posts in the University of Mysore (UoM) will be completed by 2020, said UoM Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar.
He was speaking at the ‘Employees Day’ and felicitation function organised by the UoM Non-Teaching Employees Association at the Crawford Hall here recently and said that in order to get more NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) Grade, the lecturers appointment becomes very important. Similarly, by 2020, the entire University will be digitalised, he added.
“It is 100 days since I took charge as the Vice-Chancellor of this hundred-year-old University and I thank the Governor, Chief Minister and District Minister for this appointment. However, I did not have the ambition to become the VC. But looking at my service record, I have got this position. Former VC Prof. K.S. Rangappa has been instrumental in me gaining teaching and administrative experience. I have learnt a lot from him,” he said.
MLA L. Nagendra, who also spoke on the occasion, said that the UoM has earned good reputation in the world. Rashtrakavi Kuvempu has been the Vice-Chancellor here and likewise a good person has been selected today as VC. The University will reach greater heights in the future and for this, both the teaching and non-teaching staff will have to work hard, he added.
