Mysore/Mysuru: As many as 29,195 persons have received the jab on the third day of the mega Covid Vaccination Drive in the district yesterday.
People stood in serpentine queues at various vaccination sites in both city and taluks to receive the vaccine in the drive launched jointly by District Administration, District Health and Family Welfare and Mysuru City Corporation. Over 170 vaccination sites have been created both in city and taluks to inoculate people above 18 years.
A few persons faced difficulty in getting vaccination due to technical glitches in uploading details of Aadhaar in CoWIN portal. Some were asked to come the next day following delay in registration. A family of five persons received vaccination at Indiranagar Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) and shared their happiness with SOM. A big queue was seen in front of Chamaraja Double Road UPHC. Some returned home due to end of the day’s quota at a vaccination booth. In total, vaccination has been going on at a brisk pace at Karnataka Public School, Balodyana, JSS School, JSS Public School and at other places.
Special vaccination drive
Meanwhile, Dr. Arundati, Director, National Health Mission, has said a special vaccination drive will be held for students, teaching and supporting staff of all class 12-plus colleges, degree, diploma and IIT in the wake of the State Government’s intentions of starting the degree colleges soon.
A meeting, held under the Chairmanship of CM B.S. Yediyurappa recently, has decided to open the degree colleges.
Deputy Chief Minister and Higher Education Minister Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan has said vaccination of students of medical, engineering and other higher education courses will begin in the first or the second week of July. It has been decided to open degree colleges from the first week of August and before that all students and teaching staff will be vaccinated.
