Mysuru: Narayana Hospital, Mysuru, has successful performed its first-ever Varicocele Embolisation procedure, showcasing its commitment to providing advanced, minimally invasive treatments in the region.
Recently, 25-year-old Shivappa (name changed) visited Narayana Hospital with complaints of left testicular swelling and dragging pain. On consultation with Dr. S. Nitesh, Consultant Urologist and Andrologist, the patient was diagnosed with grade III Varicocele. As the patient sought non-surgical alternative, the doctor advised him to consult Dr. Shailesh Pene, a specialist Radiologist of the Hospital.
Following evaluation by Dr. Shailesh Pene, the team recommended a minimally invasive approach — Varicocele Embolisation. A team of expert medical professionals, led by Dr. Shailesh Pene, successfully performed this procedure, bringing immense relief to the patient.
Varicocele refers to enlarged veins in the scrotum that disrupt normal blood flow, leading to swelling, discomfort and potential infertility, a common cause contributing to infertility in men.
Varicocele Embolisation offers a highly effective non-surgical alternative as it avoids pain, scarring, bleeding and hematoma, providing patients a quicker recovery.
“Varicoceles are enlarged veins in a male’s scrotum that cause abnormal blood flow, leading to swelling, pain, discomfort or infertility. This condition affects 15 to 20 percent of the population. At Narayana Hospital, we successfully performed this procedure. The outcome has been excellent and we are proud to offer such advanced care to our patients,” Dr. Shailesh Pene said at the press meet in city recently.
Dr. M.N. Ravi, Clinical Director, Narayana Hospital, Mysuru, remarked: “This successful Varicocele Embolisation exemplifies the multi-disciplinary and comprehensive care available at Narayana Hospital.”
Dr. Nitesh said: “Varicoceles are a significant cause of male infertility. This successful case highlights how advanced procedures like embolisation can make a difference in patient care.”
