Mysore/Mysuru: The city’s Kadamba Ranga Vedike has urged the authorities to allow staging of plays during Dasara celebrations, which is being held in a simple and symbolic manner this year due to COVID pandemic.
In a press statement, Vedike President Rajashekar Kadamba said that the Government’s decision to limit cultural and music programmes to Mysore Palace premises as a safety measure in the wake of COVID pandemic, is a wise move. However, the authorities must also allow staging of plays during Dasara, which are very much part of our culture, he said.
Maintaining that the authorities must allow performance of plays at Kalamandira, if not at Palace premises, Kadamba said that such a decision will help in the revival of theatre groups, which are struggling for survival during the pandemic times.
