Mysuru: Expressing concern over reports on food getting adulterated with plastic rice, sugar and egg, the Mysuru Kannada Vedike has urged the MCC authorities to check arrival of plastic food.
The members of the Vedike who met Mahadevappa, Chairman of the MCC Standing Committee on Public Health, Education and Social Justice, at the MCC office on Friday last, submitted a memorandum to act on reports on plastic rice, sugar and eggs adulterating the food of people.
Speaking after receiving the memorandum, Mahadevappa said more than 250 samples of food items and grains have been sent to laboratories and as per the test reports, no plastic food were found.
Writer Bannur K. Raju said that vested interests may be behind the reports on plastic food items. He appealed the authorities to be always alert to thwart any attempts to adulterate food items.
The Vedike President S. Balakrishna, expressing serious concern over rise in dengue cases, urged the MCC authorities to take appropriate measures for preventing outbreak of vector- borne diseases.
The Vedike office-bearers Nalabeedi Ravi, Bogadi Siddegowda, Guru, Radhakrishna, Babu and others were present.
