Mysore/Mysuru: Ganabharathi has organised a veena recital by Sangeetha Kalanidhi Vidwan T.N. Sheshagopalan in memory of Ganakalabhushana M.J. Sreenivasa Iyengar on Feb. 21 (Friday) at 6 pm at Veene Seshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar.
He will be accompanied on the mridanga by Vidwan Tumkur B. Ravishankar and on the ghata by Vidwan S. Srishailan.
Padma Bhushana Awardee Vidwan Madhurai T.N. Sheshagopalan is hailed as a multifaceted genius. He is one of the greatest Karnatak vocalists who is equally adept at playing veena and harmonium.
He is also an acclaimed Kathakalakshepam Vidwan, a composer and a teacher par excellence. He is propagating music through his music school TNS Academy for Musical Excellence.
Apart from the regular Karnatak concerts he has performed concerts based on ‘Eka Raga,’ and jugalbandi with Hindustani musicians. His creative raga elaborations, neraval and complex swaraprastaras have been unparalled. His grahabedhams during raga elaboration are awe-inspiring.
Vidwan Tumkur B. Ravishankar is a leading mridangam player. To begin with he learnt from his father Vidwan Bhadrachar and then continued under the guidance of Vidwan Karaikkudi Mani. He is a ‘A Top’ graded artiste of AIR and one of the most sought after percussionist.
Vidwan S. Srishailan is a veteran ghata player. Disciple of T.A.S. Mani, now he is under the guidance of Vidwan Arjun Bangalore.
