It is foolhardy on the part of the Traffic Police Department to curtail the process of checking only during the specified periods of time. Already, many motorists have scant respect to the traffic rules, and their violations have posed serious threats to the rules-abiding citizens.
The main violations being not-wearing helmets, jumping traffic signals, cool & fast driving on no-entry lanes, driving speedily on right side, treble/quadruple driving and other violations like No-DL/non-renewal of Insurance/drunken driving/etc.
Any leniency like the above, will deteriorate the system to such an extent that the Police force will just be a mockery before the public and its system.
Further, the powers of the Police should never ever be truncated due to some illogical protests by a handful of people.
Hence, it is an appeal to the Police Department to please maintain the status quo and expedite the process of 24-hour checking at least till such time the CCTVs are installed at the nook and corner of the city and advanced technological gadgets are put in place as like in USA.
