RAAGA Music Academy, Mysuru, one among the leading Sabhas in city with its perceived objectives of upholding the traditional values in Karnatak music, has over the past five years provided numerous concerts from well-acclaimed artistes from all over India and abroad.
This Saturday, the 29th June, RAAGA Music Academy has organised a Grand Vocal Music Concert by Vid. Hemmige Prashanth accompanied by Vidushi Charulatha Ramanujam on the violin, Vid. B.R. Srinivas on the mridanga and Vid. Raghunandan Rao on the ghata. The concert will be held at Ganabharathi’s Veene Seshanna Bhavana on Adichunchunagiri Road, Kuvempunagar at 6 pm.
The concert has been sponsored by Dr. B.R. Pai in loving memory of his wife Jayanthi Pai and by Vidushi Koviladi Kala in loving memory of her father and Guru Vid. Koviladi K. Rangarajan.
RAAGA Music Academy conducts concerts under the theme “Music For Wellness.” The Academy has maintained the tradition of delivering lectures on Wellness, Ayurveda and Yoga before the start of the concert. The lecture will be delivered by Dr. N.V. Krishnamurthy, a reputed Ayurveda and Yoga expert, at 5 pm. Entry to the programme is free.
Profile: Hemmige Prashanth belongs to the Ariyakudi K.V. Narayanaswamy tradition of music. Prashanth has been a disciple of Padmashri Sangeetha Kalanidhi, Palghat K.V. Narayanaswamy for over 7 years and is now learning under Padma Narayanaswamy for 17 years. Prashanth has also studied under Sugandha Raman, who belongs to the direct lineage of Sri Tyagaraja. Prashanth has performed in almost all the prestigious Music Sabhas in the country. He has been bestowed with several awards and titles including Gana Kala Ratna, Aasthana Vidwan of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, M.L. Vasanthakumari Endowment Prize amongst many others.
