Mysore/Mysuru: Vid. Maharajpuram Ramachandran will present a vocal concert for K.V. Murthy Memorial Endowment concert sponsored by well-wishers on Mar. 31 (Sunday) at Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha, JLB Road, at 6 pm.
He will be accompanied by Vid. H.V. Raghuram on violin, Vid. Tumkur B. Ravishankar on mridanga and Vid. Sharath Kaushik on ghata.
Vid. Ramachandran hails from the famed Maharajapuram lineage, his grandfather being the late Viswanathnatha Iyer and his father late Santhanam. He also happens to be the seventh in line in the direct Sishya Parampara of Saint Thyagaraja.
This solid background has helped him earn a name for himself and carve a niche as the authentic heir of Maharajapuram style. He has been awarded the title of Sangeetha Choodamani by Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai (2007). He is the Asthana Vidwan of Dayananda Ashram at Saylorsburg, PA. The Swamiji of the Ashram has bestowed upon him the title of Aarsha Kalaa Bhushanam (2007) at Chennai.
Grade “A Top” artiste of All India Radio and Doordarshan, Ramachandran was faculty of the Department of Fine Arts at Annamalai University in Tamil Nadu.
On Mar.6, he received the Sangeet Natak Academy Award for 2022 from President of India Droupadi Murmu.
