Mysore/Mysuru: Swarasankula Sangeetha Sabha has organised a grand Hindustani vocal concert by Vidushi Padmini Rao on Sunday (July 21) at Veene Seshanna Bhavana in Kuvempunagar at 6 pm.
She will be accompanied on the harmonium by Pt.Veerabhadraiah Hiremath and on the tabla by Pt. Ramesh Dhannur.
Vidushi Padmini Rao, an accomplished exponent of Kirana Gharana, is one of the senior most disciples of Padma Vibhushan Dr. Prabha Attre with whom she is associated for over 35 years. She started her training in vocal music at a tender age under Pt. Manohar Otavkar and learnt Sitar from Pramila Dagar. Later she reverted to vocal music and received talim in voice culture under Ustad Mohiuddin Dagar, a renowned Drupad and Rudraveena Maestro.
With her forte being classical music, Padmini remains equally at home in light classical forms including thumaris and bhajans. She has travelled and performed extensively in various parts of the world and all over India.
