Vidwan S. Shankar to perform at JSS Sangeetha Sabha on Dec. 6

Mysore/Mysuru: JSS Sangeetha Sabha, Mysuru, has organised online Karnatak Vocal Concert by Vidwan S. Shankar and team on Dec. 6 at 6.30 pm as part of the Annual Music Conference in memory of Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji. He will be accompanied by Vidu. Charulatha Ramanujam on violin, Vid. Tumkur B. Ravishankar on mridanga and Vid. G.S. Ramanujam on ghata.

The concert will be held at Suttur Mutt at the foot of Chamundi Hill. Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji will grace the occasion. KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Vidyashankar will inaugurate the concert at 6 pm. Profile: Vidwan S. Shankar started learning music under his mother Rajamma and also Nagarathna Bai and Vallabham Kalyana Sundaram. A performer for more than five decades, he is a ‘A Top’ grade AIR artiste and has performed in many prestigious sabhas and AIR concerts. He has been honoured as Asthana Vidwan of Avani Sharada Sringeri Peetham and Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. He has also chaired JSS Music Festival in 2003 and honoured with the title ‘Sangita Vidyanidhi.
