Mysuru/Mysore: The State- level Camp for Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) is being conducted at Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM)’s VLEAD campus in Hebbal on Jan. 11 and 12.
Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) is a national-level talent search exam, organised by Vigyan Prasar, Vijnana Bharati and NCERT to popularise science and nurture talented students from across the country.
In all, 1,17,484 students from all over the country participated at the school and district-level exams. 4,383 students from Karnataka took up the district- level exams during the month of November 2019.
This year the VVM district-level exam was conducted both in English and Kannada to enable Kannada medium students to participate in this competition. The top 129 students from 6th to 11th grades from Karnataka were selected for this State-level Camp in Mysuru.
The camp will be inaugurated at Vivekananda Institute for Leadership Development (VLEAD) campus in Hebbal tomorrow at 9.30 am by Dr. Shivanand Kanavi, Professor, National Institute of Advanced Studies and ASKVS Sharma, Senior Principal Scientist.
Dr. G.S. Kumar, CEO, SVYM, will preside over the event.
The valedictory will be held on Jan. 12 with Dr. K. Kasturirangan, former Chairman of ISRO and Chairman of Drafting Committee NEP as the chief guest. Sunil Bhaskaran, CEO and MD of AirAsia and Dr. Arvind C. Ranade, Registrar, Vigyan Prasar and Convenor, Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan, will be the guests of honour. Dr. R. Balasubramaniam, Founder, SVYM and GRAAM will be present on the occasion. Out of the 129 students competing in the camp, 2 students from each grade will be selected (a total of 12 students) from this camp to represent the National Camp to be held in Chandigarh during May 2020.
