Vijayapura man’s unique literary service on wheels

Mysuru:  Here is a classic story of a person from Vijayapura who has come all the way from his home town to city on his scooter decorated with Kannada flags and aptly called ‘Sahitya Sarige’ to participate in the 83rd Kannada Sahitya Sammelana. The interesting person is Bheemaraya Hoogara hailing from Badavanabagewadi of Devadurga in Vijayapura. Now he goes around city spreading richness of Kannada literature.

Hoogara is a B.Com graduate, married and has two children. He works at an agarabathi factory owned by his relative and devotes his spare time for literature as he himself is a good writer with over 25 books to his credit.

His first book is ‘Saavira Sadhaneya Vachanagalu’ and he has his own publishing house ‘Neelavarna Prakashana.’ His latest book ‘Swachha Bharatakkagi Saavira Nudimuthugalu’ was appreciated by PM Narendra Modi who has sent an appreciation letter to Hoogara. He has won many accolades in Vijayapura.

Hoogara is said to have left Vijayapura on Nov.17 for Mysuru on his ‘Sahitya Sarige’ scooter with the sentence ‘Knowledge power can win the world’ written in Kannada on his vehicle. He has been felicitated by three Kannada organisations on his arrival in city on Nov.19. Hoogara has earmarked two stalls at the Sammelana venue to sell his books. He intends to sell his popular book ‘Laksha Nudimuthugalu’ at a discounted price of Rs.100.
