Sir,
Every law-abiding citizen of Mysuru, who has built a house or is planning to build a house, must look closely at this construction nearing completion in Yadavagiri, one of the city’s so-called posh localities.
Without a compound wall and without the mandated setback, this three-storeyed building is an epitaph to modern design and urban planning, with its optimum use of every inch of space available.
The brazenness of the construction is obvious but it is enhanced by its location. It is located exactly 500 feet from the Zone-4 Office of the Mysuru City Corporation; 500 ft from the MCC Commissioner’s residence; and 200 ft. from the Corporator of Ward 18.
Thirteen months after the former Intelligence Bureau (IB) Officer R.N. Kulkarni was mowed down allegedly for opposing the building violations of his neighbour, residents in the vicinity seem to have learnt their lesson and realised the futility of civic consciousness.
If MCC allows every house and structure to be built this way, it is easy to imagine how Mysuru, reputedly one of India’s earliest planned cities, will look in future.
Produced are two self-speaking captioned photos.
