Violent altercation leaves Police vehicle damaged

Fight over trivial reasons; stones pelted at emergency response vehicle too; 14 arrested

Mysore/Mysuru: A heated altercation between two groups in the city took a violent turn on Thursday night, resulting in damage to a Police vehicle and an emergency services response vehicle. The incident occurred in the B.M. Sri Nagar area of Ambedkar Colony near a church at around 10.30 pm.

According to reports, tensions flared between two families, led by John Peter’s son and Hussain’s son, over trivial matters. The dispute quickly escalated, involving neighbouring residents in a confrontation.

When the Police intervened to defuse the situation, they encountered resistance. Metagalli Police promptly responded to the scene to restore order. Fourteen individuals involved in the altercation have been arrested and taken into custody for further investigation.

In the aftermath of the incident, as the families of those involved, along with Hussain, were being escorted to the Police Station, a group of people pelted stones at the Police vehicle and an emergency services response vehicle, causing damage to both vehicles.

Authorities are conducting thorough inquiries into the incident, and discussions are underway to address the underlying issues that led to the confrontation. Police Inspector Shantharam of the Metagalli Police Station assured the public that the matter is being dealt with seriously and urged for calm in the community.

Later, DCP (Law and Order) M. Muthuraj and Vijayanagar ACP Gajendra Prasad visited the site to assess the situation and take necessary action.
