Mysuru: A 300-metre stretch of Vishwa Manava Double Road from Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Circle to KEB Junction, featuring cycle tracks on both sides of the road, has been declared as a ‘No Parking’ area.
An order to this effect was issued by Mysuru City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar on Saturday, under the various provisions of the Indian Motor Vehicle (IMV) Act, 1988, and the Karnataka Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989. No parking orders had been issued in the interest of the safety of motorists and smooth movement of traffic, the order noted.
It comes after the Inspector of Krishnaraja Traffic Police Station made a recommendation because of the presence of several hotels, temples, garages and commercial shops on the road that also feature cycle tracks on both sides of the road.
Hindrance: The Police pointed out that customers visiting the cafes, garages and other commercial outlets on the road park their vehicles in the area earmarked for the cycle track, posing a hindrance to the cyclists as well as to the smooth flow of traffic. Hence, the decision.
