Mysuru: Vidu. Kavitha Jayaraman, a senior vocalist and veena player, will be presenting a Karnatak Vocal Concert at the residence of Mysore Vasudevacharya in Agrahara tomorrow (Dec. 15) at 10.30 am.
She will be accompanied by Vid. N.N. Ganesh Kumar on violin and Vidu. Ranjani Venkatesh on mridanga.
Profiles: Vidu. Kavitha, also a passionate analyst, teacher and curator, has learnt vocal under gurus Sridevi Ram, Saraswathy Subramanian and Bombay S. Ramachandra. She had her initial training in veena from Vidu. Jayashree Aravind. She is now under the advanced guidance of Vidu. Mangalam Shankar (Vocal) and Vidu. Meenakshi Somasundaram (Veena). Since 2019, Kavitha has made music her full-time occupation, leaving behind a successful career as a Finance professional with multinationals in India, Singapore and the USA for 15 years. Kavitha is regularly performing in the USA, India, and Singapore. She actively promotes Karnatak Music through her digital presence on streaming platforms, with 300K streams on Spotify alone. She has won numerous accolades including top honours for Best Classical Album at the World Film Festival Cannes, silver medals at Global Music Awards, USA, and Best Vocalist – Indian Classical at the Indian Music Awards’ 24.
Vid. Ganesh Kumar, a disciple of Vid. HKN and Vid. M.A. Sundaresan (from the famed Parur School), has a stage experience of over three decades.
Vidu. Ranjani Venkatesh has learnt mridanga under Vid. Ballari Mariyanna, Vid. N.G. Ravi and Vid. H.S. Sudhindra. She has also been trained in vocal music by Vidu. Neela Ramgopal. An A-Grade artiste of AIR and Doordarshan, she has accompanied many senior artistes across the globe.
