Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust, Mysuru, will be presenting a Karnatak classical vocal concert by Vidu. Malini Ramasubramanya, at 6 pm tomorrow (Dec. 30) at Jayanagar Sri Rama Mandira.
Vidu. Dr. Veena Suresh, a senior violinist and Vid. Vikram Bharadwaj, disciple of Vid. Tumkur B. Ravishankar, will accompany on violin and mridanga respectively.
Artiste’s Profile: Vidu. Malini is a Karnatak Classical vocalist and Bharatanatyam dancer, hailing from a traditional music family of Hosahally, Shivamogga. She began her musical journey with her grandfather which continued under Vidu. Lakshmi of Hassan and Vidu. Kasturi Sridhar.
For more than a decade now, she is under the tutelage of Vidu. Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar. She is also receiving training from Vid. Anoor Anantha Krishna Sharma and Vid. B.S. Purushotham.
Her grandfathers, Padma Shri H.R. Keshavamurthy is a well-known gamaka exponent and another grandfather Vid. H.R. Rama Shastry is a musician, who was the disciple of Vid. R.R. Keshavamurthy.
Malini has done her Master’s in Nuclear Physics and Music. Presently, she is pursuing her Ph.D. She had compiled a book on the compositions of Muthuswami Dikshitar and presented many research papers in reputed stages. Malini has performed in many platforms including Ramaseva Mandali, Fort, Bengaluru, Sharada Peetham, Sringeri, Arkay Convention Centre, Chennai, Rudrapatnam etc.
