Mysore/Mysuru: Ganabharathi, Mysuru, has organised a Karnatak Vocal Duet by Vidu. Sindhu Suchethan and Vidu. H.M. Smitha at Veene Seshanna Bhavana on Adichunchanagiri Road in Kuvempunagar tomorrow (Feb. 16) at 6 pm.
They will be accompanied by Vidu. Prithvi Bhaskar on violin, Vid. Tumukur B. Ravishankar on mridanga and Vid. V.S. Ramesh on morching.
The event is in memory of Sri Desiraju Venkatanarasimharao and Smt. Tripurasundaramma and is sponsored by their children and grandchildren.
Profile: Vidu. Smitha and Vidu. Sindhu are the grandchildren of Vid. A.V. Venkataramanaiah, who was the disciple of Mysore T. Chowdiah. Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy, well-known violinist of Mysuru and Vidu. H.N. Rajalakshmi, initiated the duo into music and later were under the tutelage of Vidu. Pushpa Srinivasan and Vid. T.T. Srinivasan for some time.
The sisters have accompanied on violin for many senior artistes of the country and have been credited with the honour of exhibiting their talents at prestigious Sabhas like Madras Music Academy, Chennai and Shanmukhananda Sangeetha Sabha, Mumbai.
