Mysuru: Vidu. Lakshmi Surya Teja will present a vocal recital tomorrow at 6 pm at Alwar Kala Bhavan, Gokulam 3rd stage, under the auspices of Sri Krishna Gana Sabha. She will be accompanied by Vidu. Sangeetha Dileep on violin, Vid.G.S. Ramanujam on mridangam and V.S.Ramesh on kanjeera.
Profile: A disciple of “Nada Bhushanam” Dr. Pantula Rama, Vidu. Lakshmi Surya Teja started learning Karnatak music at the tender age of 7. A graded artiste of AIR, she has won many awards, prizes and given many vocal concerts nationwide and overseas.
She is also a violinist of merit, a committed music teacher and a budding blog writer — started a blog named “Sudarshini.” She has received the prestigious “Bharat Ratna” M. S. Subbulakshmi Fellowship from Shanmukhananda Fine Arts, Mumbai, “Ugadi Puraskar” (2001) by Madras Telugu Academy, Senior Scholarship under “Scholarship for the Young Artists Scheme,” “Upcoming Young Musician Award” by Sri Kurella Someswara Rao Trust in 2011, “Dr. Alhasingari Memorial Gold Medal” by Sri Vijaya Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha in 2010 and Gold Medal in the Annamacharya Sankeerthanas State-level music competitions conducted by TTD at Tirupathi in 1998.
