Marketa Vondrousova beat Ons Jabeur 6-4, 6-4 in the summit clash of Wimbledon Women’s Singles here on Saturday to become the first unseeded woman to win the title in Open era.
The Czech Republic star defeated Jabeur 6-4 in the first set. The Tunisian player started the set with her serve and did take a 2-0 lead after breaking Vondrousova, but the latter bounced back beautifully to seal the set.
The second set was a neck-and-neck contest before Vondrousova edged past Jabeur 6-4 again to claim her maiden title.
