Mysore/Mysuru: Prof. B. Sadashive Gowda, Principal, Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), Mysuru and a team of 8 Professors are going on a 20-day educational tour of the United States of America (USA) from today (Sept.21).

During the tour, the team will visit top Universities in America such as Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Purdue University, Arizona University, Northeastern University, Rutgers University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Stevens Institute of Technology, San Jose State University, University of San Francisco.  They will meet the Professors of these Universities and also the Heads of various IT companies.

Addressing the team at the farewell ceremony, Vidyavardhaka Sangha Hon. Secretary P. Vishwanath said, “Every year, about 8 lakh Indian students go to different countries for higher education and they stay there for better job opportunities. In order to prevent such brain-drain, our education system should be improved and world-class education should be available.”

“There are 2,969 engineering colleges in India and about 15 lakh engineering graduates are passing out every year. 25% of the world’s engineers are Indians. But due to lack of quality in the level of education, more than 45% of graduates are not being employed. Due to this reason, the team will visit some selected Universities and discuss educational reform measures and best practices in engineering education. Since VVCE is an autonomous institution, necessary steps will be taken to incorporate them into our curriculum,” he said. VVCE will also be signing several MoUs with various Universities.
