Mysuru: The Department of Civil Engineering of Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), Mysuru, in association with UltraTech Cements Ltd., Pramur Constructions and ISTE Students’ Chapter had organised a three-day workshop on ‘Students Interaction with Industry for Technical Exposure (SIITE)-2017’ at Sahukar Channaiah auditorium in VVCE premises here.
The first technical talk on ‘Challenges in Civil Engineering’ was delivered by Dr. R. Manmohan Kalgal, followed by technical talk on ‘Concrete Mix Design’ by P. Nagesh.
In the afternoon session, students of IV semester were taken to the RMC Plant of UltraTech Cements Pvt. Ltd., Mysuru and the students underwent hands-on session on Concrete Mix Proportioning by Team UltraTech.
On the second day, two technical sessions on ‘Latest Concrete Methodology’ by S. Prakash and ‘Fresh Engineer needs and expectations by Industry’ by P. Nagesh was held, followed by a Quiz.
Students were taken to two industries in the afternoon and the next day, students were also trained by Team UltraTech on safety measures and marking the excavation plan at the same time in VVCE premises.
The valedictory was presided by Shivalingaiah, Member of Vidyavardhaka Sangha (VVS). Dr. G.B. Krishnappa, Dean (R&D), VVCE, Mysuru, was the chief guest. P. Nagesh and Dr. H.S. Dayananda, Dean (Academics) and HoD of Civil Engineering.
On the occasion, Team UltraTech honoured top scorer of the subject ‘Concrete Technology’ — Bindushree of VI semester.
Dr. Manmohan R. Kalgal, S. Prakash and P. Nagesh were also felicitated.
