Sir,
This refers to the news item titled “Rs. 13.5 crore fine collected from 4.6 lakh ineligible BPL card holders” (Star of Mysore dated June 1, 2023).
Over three years ago I applied for APL ration card for no other purpose than it is my right to have one. I paid the necessary fee and till today I have not been issued one. Why take a fee if it is not going to be issued? But if a fee is taken and the service is not being provided, a refund must be made.
While the APL card holder is entitled to certain benefits (me being a retired person with no pension and living on bank interest) I am sure I can avail of these benefits. Now the new Congress Government too has announced guarantee schemes for BPL and APL card holders.
I do not intend availing such Government benefits but I want the card because it is my right to have one and one never knows what the future holds.
When I went to enquire why I have not been issued the APL card, I was told there is a plan for ONE COUNTRY ONE RATION CARD and the Department was waiting for instructions on the same that is over 3 years ago.
Hope someone concerned can throw more light on this APL card issue.
