Walkathon marks World No Tobacco Day

Mysuru: As part of the yearlong centenary year service activities and programmes of Sri Ramakrishna (RK) Ashram, Mysuru, ‘World No Tobacco Day’ was observed at the Ashram premises this morning by having an assembly of about 300 youngsters and students of various Nursing Colleges.

There was a unique walkathon with placards which was flagged off at the entrance of the Ashram, which then went around Yadavagiri. Students performed mime and skits at intervals on the road to highlight the ill-effects of tobacco and smoking to the general public.

The event was jointly organised by Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, Viveka Group of Hospitals and the alumni of Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala, Mysuru.

The logo of the centenary celebrations of Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, which is celebrating 100 years of the saga of its service this year, was also released on the occasion. Dr. Naren of Viveka Hospital spoke about the impact of tobacco consumption on the human body. S. Balaji spoke about the milestone centenary celebrations of the Ashram planned for later this year.

Swami Muktidanandaji, Adhyaksha of Ramakrishna Ashram, Mysuru, spoke about the glory of human life and how to make a joyful living by transforming all types of addictions into a positive forward movement towards a higher and greater human life and possibility.
