Mysuru: As part of World Diabetes Day, a walkathon was taken out under the aegis of Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre in city this morning.
Corporator SBM Manju and MCC Health Officer Dr. Nagaraj flagged off the walkathon near Cheluvamba Park on KRS Road by releasing balloons. The walkathon, with the theme “Let’s defeat diabetes — we can and we will” passed through KRS Road, Temple Road, Vontikoppal Post Office Road and culminated at Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre on Gokulam Main Road in VV Mohalla.
The nursing staff of Apollo and Columbia Asia Hospitals took part in the walkathon. Centre Head Dr. A.R. Renuka Prasad, Columbia Asia Hospital Administrator K.D. Rakesh, Dr. Uthappa, Dr. Mohan, Lions Club of Mysore South President Manjunath Rao, Retired IoB Manager Bhujanga Sharma and others were present on the occasion.
In another event, hundreds of students of Vijaya Vittala School, Saraswathipuram, took part in the walkathon organised in association with Government Ayurveda Research Centre and Shantigiri Ayurveda Siddha Hospital.
The walkathon, which commenced from Vijaya Vittala School in Saraswathipuram, passed through Kamakshi Hospital Road and Akshaya Bhandar Road before culminating at the starting point.
