Actor Girija Lokesh at Myiff-2022
Mysore/Mysuru: “Watching movies of different languages from across the world is an enriching experience which helps in gaining knowledge about various cultures around the world,” opined senior actor Girija Lokesh. She was speaking at the second Mysuru International Film Festival (Myiff)-2022 organised by Sri Pranava Mysuru at RamaGovinda Rangamandira in Ramakrishnanagar here on Sunday.
Girija Lokesh, who was the chief guest at the event, said that International movies give prominence to silence over sound elements in their movies. Watching this kind of movies means giving keen attention towards the cultural, traditional, musical and acting elements of the film. Doing this helps one gain diverse knowledge about cultural practices of various countries which differs when compared to our country.
Informing about her journey as an actor, Girija said that she has always followed the instructions she received from directors. “I have received immense love and appreciation from people to which I am always grateful. My father-in-law Subbaiah Naidu was the first actor to star in the first Kannada talkie film ‘Sati Sulochana’ (1934) directed by Y.V. Rao. He has contributed a lot to Kannada Cinemas as well as theatre. Theatre plays used to give more importance to musical elements in olden days when compared to present. Subbaiah Naidu used to give significance to literature, script and acting in his plays,” she added and entertained the audience by singing a song from ‘Bedara Kannappa’ movie starring Dr. Rajkumar.
Theatre artiste Rameshwari Verma, film Director and National awardee Praveen Krupakar, Vibha Educational Trust Trustee Dr. Ambika Nazareth, Manisha School of Performing Arts Founder Sreedevi Unni, film Producer Jayaprakash, GCCR Founder-Chairman Georjee Kochupurakal and others were present on the occasion.
