Weekend Concerts at Mysore Vasudevacharya’s house

Mysuru: The residence of Mysore Vasudevacharya in city will be hosting two music concerts during this weekend.

TK Sisters, Dr. Saroja and Dr. Sujatha, will present a Vocal Duet on Saturday (Dec. 7). They will be accompanied by Vid. Rupanagudi Ratna Teja on violin and Vid. V. Shubhang on mridanga.

Pandit K.V. Mahabala, now settled in Tampa, Florida, will be presenting the concert ‘Bliss of Morning Raaga – Alaap’ on sitar on Sunday (Dec. 8). Both the concerts, scheduled at 10.30 am, are open to all music lovers.

Profiles: Dr. Saroja and Dr. Sujatha, professionally acclaimed as TK Sisters, have undergone their training under the illustrious Acharya Nallan Charkravartula Krishnamacharyulu. Saroja, who holds M.Sc in Mathematics and Sujatha, who is an MA in English, have carried out research in Music. They have given critically acclaimed performances under many reputed organisations and are a sought-after duo for lecture-demonstrations and special thematic concerts. They have collaborated with dancers and composed music for many dance productions. With a penchant for creative light classical music, they have created a niche for themselves as versatile composers and singers. They are credited with numerous albums and have authored research papers.

Both Vid. Ratna Teja, a student of Dr. Manjunath and Vid. Shubhang, a student of Vid. Ramanujam, are promising young artistes from the city.

Pandit Mahabala, an Engineer by profession, followed his passion for music since childhood and started his musical journey with Yoga Narasimha in Mysuru. He furthered his musical career in Delhi with Pandit Uma Shankar Mishra, a student of legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar. He has given several concerts in the US.
