Mysuru: Two Karnatak music programmes are being held during this weekend at the residence of Mysore Vasudevacharya on New Sayyaji Rao Road, Agrahara in city.
May 3 will feature two vocal concerts — the first to be rendered by senior artiste Vid. Manjunath Subramanyam at 10.30 am and the next by Vidu. Jayashri Ajay Kumar at 12 noon. Vid. H.S. Shashank on violin and Vid. Sudheendra Chandrashekar Apte on mridanga, will be providing the pakkavadya support for both the concerts.
On May 4, Advaith Narasimhan, a talented young artiste from Bengaluru, will be presenting a vocal concert.
He will be accompanied by Vidu. Varalakshmi on violin and Vid. Amogh Kaipa on mridanga. This concert is scheduled to start at 10.30 am. The programmes at Sri Acharya’s House are open to all music lovers.
Manjunath Subramanyam, a retired scientist from DRDO, hails from a music family that has served Palaces in Mysore and Gadwal. Having learnt music under the tutelage of Vid. R.K. Srikantan and Vid. Vairamangalam Lakshmi Narayanan, Manjunath has presented concerts in Bengaluru-based sabhas and published tribute articles on Saint Tyagaraja and Muthuswamy Dikshitar.
Vidu. Jayashri has undergone Karnatak vocal training from Bhargavi Suresh and Vid. Selam Sundareshan. A Karnatak vocalist, playwright and music director, she is the Founder-Director of Abhigna School of Music, Bengaluru.
Advaith Narasimhan has learnt Karnatak vocal from Vidu. Uma Ramakrishnan and learning mridanga from Guru Vid. Mohite Vasudeva Rao. An intermediate student at RV PU College, Bengaluru, Advaith has represented Delhi Public School at national level music competitions.
