Western Classical Dance by USA Dance Company on Feb.1

Mysuru:  Vasundhara Performing Arts Centre (VPAC) has organised a unique western folk and classical dance on Feb.1 at 6 pm at Jaganmohan Palace here to be presented by The Samovar Dance Company, USA, headed by Ruric Amari Rich.

Disclosing this at a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, VPAC Founder and Danseuse Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy said that Ruric was a student of hers and added that the ‘Rangapravesha’ of Ruric would be held at the same venue and time on Jan.31, which proves Ruric’s prowess in Bharatanatyam too.

Dr. Vasundhara further said that the programme would be inaugurated by Kaynes Technologies Director Savita Ramesh with Senior Art critic Dr. M. Surya Prasad as the chief guest and presided over by VPAC President K.V. Murthy.

Ruric who spoke, said that she has been into dance for over 20 years and added that Samovar Dance Company presents a rare folk and classical dance of Egypt, Turkey, Tahiti, Hawaii, Ireland and the USA.

She further said that the unique dance with stunning choreography utilises a variety of footwork using extraordinary props like fan veils, cymbals, candles and swords. Ruric will be supported by Fiona Eden, Michelle Gross and Erica LaViolette in the performance.
