At a time when Mysuru, led by the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), is gearing up for the Swachh Survekshan Survey 2025-2026 with initiatives such as marathons, cleanliness-themed wall graffiti and debates on maintaining hygienic surroundings, waste continues to be dumped on streets and set on fire, undermining every effort to regain the lost clean city ranking. This morning’s photographs capture the contrast. While walls near Dandina Maramma Temple on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Road behind St. Philomena’s College are adorned with cleanliness messages, waste, including plastic, is being burnt at Bannimantap.
