Why a delay in restoring defunct traffic signals?

Sir,

It is both shocking and alarming to learn from reliable sources that our State Government has failed to renew the Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) for traffic signals in and around Mysuru.

As a result, many traffic signals have become non-functional. With Dasara fast approaching, it’s hard to imagine the chaos these defunct signals will create for both tourists and local residents.

Media reports suggest that the Traffic Police Department is generating significant revenue from traffic rule violators. It appears that these funds might be diverted towards various freebie schemes of the State Government, which seems to be the root cause of these failures.

As long as the focus remains on freebies, taxpayers like us continue to suffer. The Government seems to lack sufficient funds for both development projects and routine maintenance activities.
