Why barricade junctions and Ring Road stretches?

Sir,

The Traffic Police need to play an active role in educating and guiding motorists. Vehicles cutting across lanes at traffic signals can be frustrating for law-abiding drivers and this behaviour undermines the efforts of Traffic Police.

The placement of barricades, particularly at junctions, should be carefully reviewed to ensure they do not compromise lane discipline. It’s important to create a system that facilitates smooth and safe lane transitions for turning vehicles without causing disruption. This is especially critical on the Ring Road.

Observing large trucks and buses manoeuvring around barricades can be a hazardous sight, and it poses risks to bikers and drivers trying to navigate through these areas. The design and placement of barricades must be reconsidered to enhance safety and traffic flow (see pic).

The issue of two-wheelers using all three lanes on the road, despite the availability of service roads, is a concern. Encouraging proper lane usage and educating riders on responsible road behaviour can contribute to a safer road environment.

Another worrisome practice is heavy vehicles and slow-moving cars consistently using the overtaking lane. It is vital for authorities to enforce lane discipline and for drivers to adhere to lane rules for the safety and enjoyment of all road users.

In conclusion, it is hoped that intelligent and responsive officials take note of these concerns before they escalate further. Collaborative efforts between authorities and responsible drivers can contribute to making Mysuru roads safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
