Why can’t MCC use property identification number of UPOR?

Sir,

The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has taken up computerising the calculation, collection and managing property tax in Mysuru. Another government body (Survey Settlement and Land Records, Urban Property Ownership Record — SSLR, UPOR Project Office) has already surveyed all the residential, commercial and institutional properties in Mysuru and surrounding areas and allotted unique identification numbers to them.

MCC should have aligned its process with that of UPOR and synergise both the systems. It would save duplication of surveying the same property by two institutions. It would save time and efforts too.

I urge the MCC to use the property identification number of UPOR as ultimately property record may be made compulsory. UPOR would have to handle property records and disputes associated with it. MCC would only collect taxes and it would come to know from which property tax is not being collected.

Both the institutions could share their data with each other and other utilities for collection of cess and taxes.

Will the MCC Commissioner see the advantage in this proposal and collaborate with UPOR so that public money is not wasted?
