Mysore/Mysuru: Strongly condemning the derogatory remarks allegedly made by previous Mysuru Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rohini Sindhuri against people’s representatives, an audio of which went viral a few days ago, former Mayor B.L. Bhyrappa said that it is ridiculous that Rohini is making Government land encroachment allegations now, after failing to act on the same when she was the DC.
Addressing a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here this morning, he also took objection to Rohini’s reported remarks that 500 resolutions were passed at a single MUDA meeting.
Questioning why Rohini as the Mysuru DC did not attend even a single MUDA meeting during her over eight-months stint, Bhyrappa said that she could have red flagged any of the resolutions that were passed by MUDA, as she had the executive powers to do so as the DC.
Maintaining that making personal attacks in singular against people’s representatives and all others does not augur well for a bureaucrat, Bhyrappa poo-poohed Rohini’s claims that she had protected lakes from encroachment, when she did not bother to even visit lakes at the foot of Chamundi Hill, which is very close to Mysuru city.
Noting that MUDA Chairman had taken great pains to convert Seth Mohandas Tulsidas Hospital into a COVID Hospital in a short period, the former Mayor contended that Rohini had failed to understand that co-ordination between bureaucrats, officials and people’s representatives is vital in tackling emergency situations such as the current COVID crisis.
Pointing out that land conversion is made by DCs, he maintained that Rohini could have acted on land encroachment by issuing notices to the concerned. But after having failed to do this, Rohini has hit the streets by calling netas by names.
